Jennifer Lopez Perfume

Jennifer Lopez was born in 1969, in Castle Hill, a neighbourhood in New York’s Bronx district, to Puerto Rican parents, Guadalupe Rodriguez and David Lopez. As a child, she attended Catholic where she proved to be an accomplished athlete, but no academic success. At the age of 16, she landed her first film role, in My Little Girl, alongside Mary Stuart Masterson. This did not, however give her career the kick start she wished. After graduating from high school, she financed her own singing and dancing lessons, held down a job in a law office and enrolled in Baruch College in Manhattan. Finally in 1991 she was accepted for In Living Color, and could join the Flygirls, the dance group whose routines opened and closed the show, choreographed by Rosie Perez. Working under Perez, Jennifer gained valuable experience, but was keen to proceed with an acting career. After leaving the Flygirls, Lopez danced in several music videos, most notably Janet Jackson's That's The Way Loves Goes. However she turned down the offer of dancing in Jackson’s world tour, determined to fulfill her acting ambition and moving into more TV work.

Lopez finally hit the big screen in 1995 with My Family, and in 1998 was nominated for a Golden Globe for her role in Selena. She became the first Latin actress to earn $1 million or more for a film role.

Lopez, nicknamed J-Lo, found her career going from strength to strength. It was her role in Out Of Sight, based on an Elmore Leonard novel, alongside George Clooney that made her a sex symbol. She made a dramatic entrance at the Academy Awards and secured a modeling contract with L’Oreal. She had also expanded into music, appearing with Puff Daddy on his Been Around the World Video. Her debut solo album was a runaway success on its release in 1999, and the single If You Had My Love went to number one. Multi million sales followed, as did two more albums.

By this stage, Lopez was also firmly established as an actress. In January 2001 she once again topped the charts with her J. Lo album, and her new movie The Wedding Planner, a feat unmatched by any other actress. Her movie fees were up to $9 million for each film. She launched Sweetface fashions, selling designs for fuller-figured women, as well as cosmetics and her Glow by J. Lo fragrance and a limited edition spin-off entitled Miami Glow by J. Lo. For the Christmas 2005 market, she launched another fragrance, Live by Jennifer Lopez, and in February 2006, another Glow spin-off Love at First Glow. Her latest fragrance, Live Lux was released in August 2006 with Glow After Dark hot on its heels. A further fragrance Desire, is to be released some time in 2007.
